17 and 18 weeks

So much for doing an update every week... we have been terribly busy the last few weeks.  Patrick was working longer days, so without a photographer I did not get myself into gear with posting.  It's 2 weeks at a time this week.

Size of Baby: According to babycenter.com at 17 weeks the baby was about 5 inches long and weighed 5 ounces the size of a turnip.  At 18 weeks the baby weighed 5 and a half ounces and was 7 inches long, about the length of a bell pepper.

Maternity Clothes: Stretchy summer dresses and more maternity capris, I love the dresses though.

Gender: Appointment set for July 30th... we have started referring to the baby as "he" though.

Belly Button In/Out: Still in, thank goodness!   But I can tell it is changing.

Stretch Marks: None so far... hoping it stays that way.

Labor Signs: None so far... praying these won't happen for a long time!

Movement: I felt the baby for sure at 17 weeks.  It is funny what gets him moving... singing at church on Sunday and the loud scanners at work.

Sleep: Good days and bad days, still able to sleep on my stomach sometimes, which really helps.

What I miss: Diet Coke... it's so weird because just a few weeks ago it was the last thing I wanted.

What I am looking forward to: A week until the Olympics.. oh and some much needed time off work!

Cravings/Aversions: Still loving Mexican food... and eating carrot sticks and fruit like they are going out of style.

Symptoms:  Still feeling much better in the nausea department!  Starting to feel bigger though...

Best Moment This Week:
Feeling real movement in my 17th week, it is the strangest feeling.  Hearing our little ones heartbeat at the doctor last week... always a reminder of just what a miracle God has given us.

16 Week Update

I'm about a day late this week... ooops... we've just been busy living life.

Size of Baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of an avocado, weighing around 3 and a half ounces.   Apparently, the baby is about to start a growth spurt... so a lot of changes coming!

Maternity Clothes: Stretchy summer dresses... and I finally broke down and wore some maternity capris this week.  They are so comfortable.

Gender: We'll see at the end of July... I'm still thinking boy, not sure why.

Belly Button In/Out: Still in, thank goodness!

Stretch Marks: None so far... hoping it stays that way.

Labor Signs: None so far... praying these won't happen for a long time!

Movement: I'm pretty sure I felt the baby a few times this week.  I am looking forward to feeling more soon.

Sleep: Getting better at sleeping on my side.

What I miss: Diet Coke... it's so weird because just a few weeks ago it was the last thing I wanted.

What I am looking forward to: This doesn't have a lot to do with the baby, but I can't wait for the Olympics in a few weeks.  We had such a good time watching the trials last week.

Cravings/Aversions: Still loving Mexican food... but I think that's pretty normal for me.

Symptoms:  I am feeing so much better this week.  I've even had a few days with no nausea!  Yay!

Best Moment This Week:
We got to see friends in a variety of circumstances this week, including a cookout to celebrate the 4th with our church family.

15 Week Update

We are still trying to get the hang of taking these pictures... it's difficult because I'm not really showing just yet.

Size of Baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of an apple, weighing around 2 and a half ounces.

Maternity Clothes: Sticking with stretchy summer dresses, they are so comfortable!  So glad they are in style and easy to find this summer.

Gender: We'll see at the end of July... I'm kind of thinking boy, not sure why.

Belly Button In/Out: Still in, thank goodness!

Stretch Marks: None so far... hoping it stays that way.

Labor Signs: None so far... praying these won't happen for a long time!

Movement: Maybe a few flutters?  We did the flashlight test... babycenter.com says if you shine a flashlight at your belly the baby's eyes are developed enough they will move away... I think I felt him/her move a little!

Sleep: I'm trying to get used to sleeping on my side.  I'm still able to sleep on my stomach, enjoying it while it lasts.

What I miss: I think I finally got my taste back for Diet Coke... though I haven't had any.  I have found myself wanting one the last few days.

What I am looking forward to: Vacation!  My work schedule finally came out... so refreshing to see a week of vacation in there!

Cravings/Aversions: Still loving Mexican food... but I think that's pretty normal for me.

Symptoms:  Less nausea, more energy... however a combination of summer temperatures and pregnancy have led my fingers to swell... so I am drinking lots more water!

Best Moment This Week:
A great date night with Patrick Friday night.  We are trying to soak up all the time we have just the two of us!

Walk this way...

I know I started back blogging last week... and so far, I have been pretty quiet... that's because not too much has gone on with us the last few days.  Except that, I am finally starting to feel back to my old self.  My energy is back, and I don't feel sick all day!  Thus, I  have finally started a little exercise routine that will hopefully keep the two of us in shape until December.

I am not pushing it too hard, or doing anything overly strenuous... or overly ambitious.  I have decided I am going to have a goal of walking three days a week, for at least 30 minutes.  As it gets cooler, I may add more days, it just depends on how I am feeling.

Does anyone have any advice on anything to add to my walking?  Or any music I need to add to the 'ole Ipod... because let's just say music really helps!

Weekly post coming tomorrow!

Foodie Friday: Help

Help!  I have been in a funk lately trying to find new easy recipes that are healthy and great tasting.  With my recent nausea and fatigue, I am having difficulty cooking healthy dinners for Patrick and I.  I really want to up my vegetables so as to keep myself and the baby healthy...

So this is where you come in... What are your go to recipes?  Do you use the crockpot, or do you make the meals ahead?  I would love to hear from you on what you do to save time and feed your family healthy dinners.

In the mean time... I will leave you with one of our favorite dinners.  You can change this up and make all kinds of meals for a few days after you cook the bar-b-que meat.

Barbecue Pork

Ingredients:

-1 Boston Butt Pork roast
-2 jars of barbecue sauce (I usually get one cheap one... and one nicer one)
-Vinegar (enough to fill a barbecue sauce bottle)
-Crock Pot

Place the meat in the crock pot. Pour the cheap sauce over it, then fill that bottle with vinegar and pour it over the meat. Cook on low for about 8 hours (make sure it is covered).

After 8 hours the meat should easily pull apart with a fork (you may want to test this to make sure it is done). When the meat it done pour off all the sauce/vinegar. Then shred the pork with two forks.

Now you can either mix the other sauce with the meat.... or just put it out when you serve the barbecue and let each person determine how much sauce they want.

14 Week Update

Size of Baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a lemon, weighing around 1and a half ounces.

Maternity Clothes: Sticking with stretchy summer dresses, they are so comfortable!

Gender: We'll see at the end of July... not really sure what I think at this point.

Belly Button In/Out: Still in, thank goodness!

Stretch Marks: None so far... hoping it stays that way.

Labor Signs: None so far... praying these won't happen for a long time!

Movement: Maybe a few flutters?  Looking forward to feeling more soon.

Sleep: I'm trying to get used to sleeping on my side.  I keep waking up on my stomach, unfortunately, I don't think that will last too much longer.

What I miss: As crazy as it sounds, I miss Publix subs.  However, last week I discovered I can eat a chicken finger sub... never thought I would miss eating sandwiches.

What I am looking forward to: Feeling the baby move more in the next few weeks.

Cravings/Aversions: No real aversions at this point... craving Mexican food, but that's not really a new thing, I always want Mexican food.

Symptoms: I have definitely had less nausea this week, YAY!

Best Moment This Week:
Finally getting to tell everyone our little secret!  It's so good not to have to hide it anymore.

*I am going to do my best to do these posts each week.  I think it will be a great way to chronicle my pregnancy. *

An Update... Finally!

Where has the time gone?  It almost looks like I fell off the face of the earth!  I can't believe the last big thing I blogged about was our trip to Chicago... that feels like ages ago!

I feel like not very much has happened in the time since then... and maybe that is why I haven't blogged.  We've just been living our lives, day by day, doing normal things... not really anything blog worthy.

I have been crafting and sewing more, so I hope to get that on the blog soon.  I love doing it so much, I just always seem to forget to take pictures in the process... I'm working to get better though!

There is one more thing... a little thing to be exact... Christmas will be coming a little early to the Hearn house this year...
That's right, Patrick and I are excited to announce that we are expecting our first child!  I am due December 13th, right between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Needless to say, we will have a busy but thankful holiday season this year.  We are looking forward to all that the Lord has in store for our family!

I am 14 weeks along, finally past the 1st trimester, and the terrible morning (or all day in my case) sickness!  I am hoping to do weekly posts to keep friends and family updated out our progress.  I plan to do my first one in the next few days... so stay tuned.

Thanks for sticking with me... even after my blogging sabbatical...  I'm going to do my best not to let it happen again!
