Our Anniversary

Did you miss me last week?  We were on our anniversary trip to Chicago and Indianapolis.  We had a wonderful time.  I have a bunch to catch up with on the blog, so let's get started!

We left Sunday (our actual anniversary) right after church.  Patrick had to teach Sunday school, so this worked out perfectly.  We decided it would be best to split our drive to Indy, so we spent the night in Nashville.  Our hotel was right next to the Vandy campus... we literally walked out the back door and right up to their football stadium.  We both love the atmosphere in a college town and we had a wonderful time exploring both campus and Nashville.

We ate dinner at a local place... that it turns out is a Nashville staple.  I wish we had a San Antonio Taco Company here... or maybe I don't... I know we would eat there a lot, maybe too much!

We also took part in a first anniversary tradition...

Your eyes are not deceiving you... that is the top layer of our wedding cake... complete with a few other wedding accessories...

The cake was surprisingly good...

I mean it is a year old... we were on a sugar high for a while after we ate it!

We had a great First Anniversary... I can't believe it has been a whole year!

Foodie Friday: Butterfinger Cake

Sorry I missed last week.  I had to work last Friday so it through a kink in my normal routine!

I made this cake a few weeks ago for a gathering at our Pastor's house.  I like making it because it is always so moist!

I got this from Kelly's blog... enjoy!

Butterfinger Cake
-1 box yellow cake mix (and all the ingredients to make the cake)
-1 jar caramel sauce
-1 can sweetened condensed milk
-1 tub whipped cream
-3 or 4 Butterfinger candy bars, crumbled (I used the food processor)

Prepare the yellow cake as instructed on the box.

Just before the cake finishes baking mix the caramel sauce and sweetened condensed milk in a medium bowl.

After you remove the cake from the oven... while it is still hot... poke holes all over the cake with a fork. Then pour the caramel mix over the cake.  On top of the caramel mix sprinkle the crumbled Butterfinger bars.

Allow the cake to cool completely, you can put it in the refrigerator.  Just before serving, spread the cool whip on top of the cake.

Tradition...

This weekend Nike announced the uniforms the Georgia Bulldogs will wear in our first game against Boise State.  Did you see them?  Here is a link to some pictures...  What do you think?

Call me a sucker for tradition, but I love our normal uniforms.  I love the red helmets and silver britches... plus the fact that I hate the tone on tone jersey and pants.

Regardless of the uniforms... I am ready for the season!  Go Dawgs!

No matter what...

It has been one fantastic year!

My Girls!

A few weeks prior to the wedding we had my bridesmaids luncheon at the Swan Coach House in Buckhead.
My girls are so special to me.  I have known each of them for a long time.  I lived either with... or very near all of them (those fun times at the dorm!)

We had a great time catching up with old friends... and eating good southern chicken salad...

We even got their signature Swan dessert...

We have had so many good times together throughout the years... words cannot express my appreciation for each of these special girls.  I know that no matter where each one of us end up in our lives we will always be there for one another.  I can't wait to see what God has in store for all of us!

Shoals Shower

I realized that I missed some very important wedding recaps when I took my impromptu blogging hiatus  last year.  So, I thought that this week would be the perfect time to do finish blogging about the events that led up to our wedding... almost one year ago!

A few weeks before the wedding Patrick's family threw us a lovely shower in the Shoals.

Dana, our matchmaker, even got to come with us to see Patrick's hometown... it was an interesting road trip to say the least...

 With our Moms...

And my lovely sisters in law...

I got to meet so many of Patrick's aunts, cousins, and hometown friends.  It was so much fun to hear stories of Patrick as a young boy.  We got so many wonderful and personalized gifts that will always remind us of the Shoals.  In addition to the typical gifts for the home... we got some tools for Patrick.

It was a great day all around!

Foodie Friday: Roasted Asparagus

Sorry Foodie Friday is a little late today.  I have been cleaning our apartment for most of the day.  It needed a good deep cleaning... so I just decided to buckle down and do it all today.

I also made dinner for us tonight, we had pork tenderloin, wild rice, and roasted asparagus.  It was so good... and so easy!  Tonight, I will share my "recipe" for roasting the asparagus.  I got this from my mom... and I think calling it a recipe is  a stretch.

Ingredients:
-Asparagus
-Olive Oil
-Sea Salt

Trim the ends off the asparagus... the fat end without the fancy top.  Spread the asparagus in a single layer in a shallow pan.

Drizzle a little olive oil and salt into the pan... then roll the asparagus in the mixture.

Bake for about 10 minutes at 400 degrees... voila!

The asparagus is crispy on the outside... and soft on the inside.

Our Dinner:

Yum!  Happy Cooking Y'all!
